A university started in an abandoned airfield in 1972 has steadily grown into over a dozen campuses and centers across South Florida, the country, and the world. The last 50 years at FIU have demonstrated that academic and research excellence can be achieved — and enhanced — with a focus on the health, advocacy, and ascension of our communities. The next 50 years will be a well of opportunity for our students, alumni, faculty, and staff to continue our rise, guided by our core values of truth, freedom, respect, responsibility, and excellence.
