For the third consecutive year, the Center for Leadership at FIU has been ranked among the top providers of executive leadership development programs.
Leadership Excellence, a publication of HR.com, ranked the Center for Leadership No. 1 in North America for Open-Enrollment Leadership Development Programs. The announcement was made at LEAD2016, HR.com’s annual conference for human resource and organizational development professionals and institutions. The center also was ranked No. 2 for Custom-Content Programming for its work with administrators from Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
For the past 30 years, Leadership Excellence has identified and recognized the top leadership organizations in their annual ranking. This year, the publication considered applications from programs at more than 300 educational institutions, including Wharton University, Babson College, Boston University, Center for Creative Leadership, and Carnegie Mellon University.
“The Leadership Excellence Awards showcase the world’s most effective, leading-edge and highly valuable leadership programs and individuals,” said Debbie McGrath, CEO of HR.com, the largest global social networking and resource site for human resources professionals.
The factors HR.com considered in formulating the rankings included alumni feedback on the lasting impact of the program, social media polls and the strength of a program’s objectives and application.
“This external validation of the center’s work reinforces our commitment to leadership research and education; the awards showcase the impact of our work and allows us to continue to build our vision of equipping better leaders for better organizations and, in turn, a better world,” said Mayra Beers, director for the Center for Leadership and a Knight Research Fellow.
Nathan Hiller, academic director for the Center for Leadership, said the award underscores how the center’s research is changing lives.
“We are thrilled that our alumni are taking the skills they learn and using them to succeed personally and to improve their organizations,” Hiller said.
