Dr.  Siddharth Shankar was a beloved dad, husband, friend, colleague, confidante, scholar and an extraordinary human being. He had a big heart and was always willing to go the extra mile to help others. He was funny – never taking himself too seriously – and a joy to be around. He enjoyed life, always making others feel good, no matter the circumstance. He was also devoted to his family. He will be long remembered for his generosity, incredible tolerance and friendly attitude to everyone.

Siddharth was the third child of Dr. Shankar and Rita Jha. He earned a B.A. in Economics (Honors) at Hindu College, Delhi University in 1998, an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Pune, India in 2002, and his Ph.D. in Finance from Florida International University, Miami in 2008. Since 2008, he was a finance professor at the A.R. Sanchez Jr. School of Business, Texas A&M International University, Laredo, TX. He started as an assistant professor, was promoted to associate professor in 2014, and has been the chairperson of the International Banking and Finance Studies Department since 2017. Siddharth met and married the love of his life, Wricha in June 2009. His spirit will live on in his sons Neil (born in March 2014) and Ayaan (born in September 2017).

Dr. Siddharth Shankar passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018.

He will be remembered forever and missed by his parents, his wife and sons, his brother Rajeev, his sister Rashmi, nephews, nieces, other relatives, numerous friends, colleagues and his students.
