Who can apply?

Students who are enrolled at FIU are eligible to apply for scholarships.

How do I apply?

To be able to apply, you must have an FIU Panther ID and e-mail. Go to fiu.academicworks.com. Click on sign-in. This will direct you to an FIU authentication page. Log-in using your PantherMail username and password (ex. jcas001). Once you are logged in, complete the general application. Once your general application is complete, you may browse the site for scholarships for which you may be qualified. There are two types of scholarships:

  1. Auto-match: these scholarships require only the information found in the general application. You don’t need to do anything other than complete the general application to qualify for these.
  2. Apply-to: these scholarships require that you answer questions or provide more information specific to this scholarship. An apply-to scholarship will have an Apply button next to it in the scholarship listing. When you click on Apply, you will see the questions you need to complete. Once you complete them, you can save and submit your answers. To be considered for apply-to scholarships, you must answer the additional questions.

Can I only apply for scholarships that are recommended to me?

No, the system will suggest scholarships based on your general application, but it does not match your qualifications 100%. You must browse all scholarships to identify and apply to scholarships for which you may be qualified. If you rely solely on recommendations, you will miss out on opportunities!

When is the deadline?

Deadlines vary per scholarship. See individual listings for specific deadlines.

I could not sign-in to the scholarship website. What do I do?

You must be enrolled. If you are a student or scholarship administrator and need help with your MyAccounts username or password, please contact the UTS Call Center at 305-348-2284, Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. You can also visit uts.fiu.edu/helpdesk or e-mail awhelp@fiu.edu.

I am a sophomore; do I apply for scholarships that reference “sophomore” in the criteria?

If the scholarship criteria states a specific class level (i.e. freshman or 1st year; sophomore or 2nd year; junior or 3rd year; senior or 4th or 5th year; or graduate), please note that this refers to the level for which you will be classified during the 2014-2015 academic year (or at the time the scholarship is disbursed).

How do I search for scholarships?

You must first update or complete the general application before searching or applying for other specific scholarships.

Use the search tab to search for scholarships. Use broad keywords such as theat (to search for theatre or theater scholarships), phy or exercise (to search for physical education, physical therapy or other ESS scholarships). Incoming freshman should use the keyword (fresh) to search for all awards related to freshman or freshmen.

How do I upload a transcript?

Continuing students must upload a current FIU unofficial transcript. You can access an unofficial transcript via my.fiu.edu > Academics > Transcript > View Unofficial, save to your computer and then upload to your scholarship application. Incoming freshman must contact their guidance counselor for an unofficial transcript and upload with the application. Scan the transcript and save as a pdf and upload, or simply upload if you received the transcript via email. The scholarship system is not able to access the transcript submitted to the Admissions Office.

What are external opportunities?

In addition to scholarships offered by the FIU Foundation, you will also find information on external scholarships. FIU has researched these external scholarships. They are legitimate scholarship opportunities, and we encourage you to visit the websites and apply. The search tab will not work for external scholarships, but you can use the “Find” (Ctrl Key and F) function to browse through these additional opportunities.

How will I know if I am a scholarship recipient?

Scholarship recipients will be notified via email a few weeks after the application deadline.
